• Horse terminology and horse anatomy.

• Identifying the parts of the tack used to prepare the horse for riding. This includes the why and the how to properly tack up the horses with the bridle and saddle so that the rider will be able to tack their horse independently.

• Grooming, bathing, and proper care of the horse.

• Safety in leading the horse and handling the horse on the ground.

• Proper mounting and dismounting the horse.

• Balance and control in asking the horse to walk on, steering of the horse, and stopping the horse.

• Progression to trot, lop, and canter.
